Let's celebrate Dr. Seuss's B-day.

Hi I am Cindy Lou Who! Shaylee came to school today dressed up as one of the characters from Dr. Seuss. She was pretty proud of the way she looked. When she looked in the mirror after Mom was done she said, I look Dang cute. Of course, Mom always agrees. Everyone made a big deal at school over Shaylee's hair and that just added to her big head head or hair I should say. We love showing school spirit and like to go all out. By the end of the day her head hurt because the cup (which is hidden under the hair) was digging into her head. When I picked her up from school she had the whole thing taken out. All my hard work down the drain. J/K

Holy EGG!

I think one of our chickens was constipated but not anymore. Let's just say that we found this egg in our chicken coup and can't believe it could have possibly came out of a chicken. There must have been some serious straining going on to lay that sucker. We had to show everyone the "dinosaur egg" as we like to call it. It is unbelievable but it is the truth.

Can I have this Dance?

Thanks to Grandmother Great Arrington my children have become quite the dancers. Shaylee and Blake have been studying the movie "The 12 Dancing Princesses" and finally have their moves down. I caught them in the family room working on their routine and I had to capture the moment. They were actually quite good and really were doing some great moves. Grandma Great would be proud. Shaylee would even correct Blake on where to place his hands.

Baby it's COLD outside

Emma did not like the snow. She came outside and picked up a big handful in her hands then realized it was way too cold. She just started crying and wanted to go back inside. So much for a fun playdate in the snow. Fire here we come!

Blake and Shaylee did not let the cold stop them. We made a little snowman. I don't know how people make snowmen in Missouri. I could not get the snow to stick together. We had to get pitchers of water and pour it on the snow then hurry and form into balls. Utah snow is much better Corene. I think we will stick to snowmen making in Utah. It was hard work for a little amusement. The kiddos loved it though and I guess that is all that matters. It is pretty sad when you have to use little pebbles for the eyes.

What are you Looking At!

"I know I am having a bad hair day, but leave me a lone and let me listen to my music." Emma was so funny just wanting to listen to my MP3 player like she was a big girl. Yes and her hair is disgusting, but it just doesn't lay down. This is exactly why her hair is always done, letting it be natural just won't do.

Let's Dance!

Shaylee was playing the computer and she was listening to a song. The Lady told her to get on your boots and cowboy hat and stand up and dance. Next thing I knew Shaylee had followed directions and was boogying to the beat. Blake had more fun watching her then trying to dance. She tried to make him go get on a hat and boots but her told her No-Way. Shaylee had a blast and that is all that matters. She really does have some rythm, she takes after the Clare side of course.

100 days of School

We have to celebrate 100 days of school!!!! Shaylee took her teacher very seriously when she said they needed to wear 100 of something. Miss Ashlock told Shaylee she could wear 100 bows in her hair. SHaylee took that literally and Mom had to inform her that we did not own 100 bows. So we came up with the idea of 100 rubberbands in her hair. Sounds easy enough- I don't think so. AFTER one and a half hours the hair was finally done and we were rushing to get to school on time. My hands were cramping, but Shaylee was pretty darn proud of her hair. I don't hink I will be doing that again anytime soon. Getting them out was even more of a nightmare. I ended up having to cut them out of her hair and hoping I didn't cut her hair in the process. Thank goodness 100 days are over.

What to do on a Snow Day?

Let's paint some toes. Blake had to be in on the action so we picked red for the girls and blue for the boy. Dad wasn't happy but we couldn't leave anyone out.

Blake has figured out the computer and enjoys playing on starfall.com. He thinks he is so big and is learning quite a lot. He can do it all by himself which he loves.

Cooking Frenzy

Blake and Shaylee decided they wanted to cook and do their own creations. I said go ahead have at it. The ingredients they used were marshmellows, peanut butter, nuts, rice crispies, cheese, dates, milk, chocolate chips and craisins. I told them whatever they made they would have to eat. Blake's was pretty good but Shaylee admitted she was not a cook and her's was disgusting. Mom decided eating that concoction was brutal so we ended up feeding it to the chickens. The chickens enjoyed every last drop.

Want a ride

Emma found a new little toy in Blake's room and was walking all over the house with it. She was quite attached to this little stick horse and thought she was really doing something. She kept picking up the head and giving it kisses, it was quite adorable.

Emma says No to Sledding

Emma did not like sledding behind the horse so she became my porch buddy. She did not like that either and let us all know. She was not happy until she got to be up on the horse with her Daddy. If she could be there all day she would. She loves it and won't let Daniel touch the reins. Emma is just a little independant.

Missouri Sledding

Down here in the boondocks we have to make shift our own sledding. We don't get a lot of snow but when we get a little we are all over it. Daniel had a crazy idea to pull the sled behind the horse. Let's just say it was a big hit. Blake could not stop laughing and Shaylee could not stop grinning from ear to ear. As people drove by the house it was quite the spectacle but the Goodman's were having a blast. Daniel even got going so fast Shaylee fell right off. Blake just got a kick out of that and kept asking Daniel to do it again. I know everyone is just dying to go sledding behind a horse too.

Blake turns Four

It is a little late, his birthday was November 26, 2008. Better late than never.
All Blake wanted for his birthday was to play with his cousin Bubba. So I had to grant his wish. They were so cute and had fun just playing all day. We made cupcakes and they both wanted to lick the bowl. I didn't know they would both try to stick their faces in the bowl at the same time. I gave them spoons to lick the bowl with but they thought they could lick better with their tongues. When I saw it I had to crack up laughing and hurry and snap a picture.

Let it Snow

Yes, we do live where it is cold but we never see a lot of snow mostly ice. At Corene's house my children were in heaven. They could not believe all the snow. Blake and Shaylee were outside forever playing in it. We had to keep telling Blake to eat the snow that is white. He kept tring to eat the salt and dirt that is left after they snow plow the streets. A little salt and dirt doesn't hirt anyone. Shaylee was very proud of her snowman. Daniel and her had a great time building it.

Temple Square

We were able to take our family to see the Salt Lake temple. The kids really enjoyed it and they loved seeing the statue of Jesus. They loved the movies in the visitors center and the spirit that was there. They couldn't understand why they couldn't go in the temple but were happy they were finally able to see a temple.

Here Comes Santa!

We saw the real Santa! He came to Missouri to visit us at Bass Pro. My children were so excited and couldn't believe he brought his reindeer. We had to tell Santa what we wanted this year. My kids thought they had to ask for the same present as last year, so I had to take them shopping to figure out what they could ask for. I told them to pick whatever they wanted. Blake picks a dinosaur, of course. Shaylee decided to pick the most expensive thing, a Barbie jeep. I told her Santa was on a budget and she needed to pick up something that would fit better in the sleigh. She decided to settle on an easel. I think that was a better choice. When they sat on Santa's lap he asked them what they wanted and they were ready to tell. Then, he asked what else they wanted. Shaylee looked at him and told hiim that Santa only brings one present. I don't know if you all know that, but it is true in our house. Emma did not want anything to do with that strange looking man. She doesn't let anyone hold her let alone a guy with a beard and reaindeer staring at her in the background. So Daniel had to hold her and Santa snuck in the picture without her noticing. Shaylee is really big into Santa this year. A boy in her class doesn't believe and she told him that if he doesn't believe Santa would bring him a black thing that goes on the fire. I had to inform her that Santa only brings a piece of coal to those children that are naughty. Her come back, " I think it is naughty for not believing." I didn't know what to say. Blake wants to open his presents every day and does not get why we have to wait until Christmas. That just isn't fair! Blake and I made a chain, so it wouls be easier to know how many days left. Of course they are smarter then you think. I told him once we tear off all of the chain then it will be time. "Mom, why can't we just tear it all off and then we can open presents?" Blake is learning to be too smart like his sister. Is it here yet? Merry Christmas!!

Halloween

Shaylee the pirate, Blake the fireman, and Emma little Miss Raggety Ann.

This year Shaylee really got into the picture taking. She made Blake get a hose and pretend he was fighting a real fire. Then she got on top of our propane tank and told me that it was her pirate ship. She then had to be on the lookout as you can tell in the picture. Emma wasn't quite sure about her wig until Mommy and Daddy told her she looked pretty. She didn't touch that thing the rest of the night. She really thought she was something.

Hello Bows!

Shaylee and Mackenzie decided to do their own hair. I think they should be beauticians, don't you? They were so proud of their hair. Of course Blake can not be beat with this lovely hot pink flower in his hair. He just thought he was so cute and of course we all did too, except for Daddy.

Emma has just gotten so cute. Emma and I are the spectators to the roping and don't mind sitting on the sidelines. As long as she is outside she could care less what is going on, she is in heaven. She thinks these steps were made just for sure and if anyone wants to share the seat Oh she lets them know!

What can you possibly do with a ROPE??

As you can tell life at the Goodman home is not always normal. The things we do for fun are not always what you might expect for a family activity. We love to rope! Shaylee has her rope and she thinks she is big stuff . She actually can get her rope around the horns without cheating. Blake of course is the cow. Daniel has set this contraption up so he can run around the house pulling the fake cow and yelling "Moo". He really gets a kick out of it and it gives Daniel and Shaylee some good practice. Every now and again when the kiddos get out of hand Daniel will rope them. Just kidding! He does try and rope them because they beg him too. They run all around the yard Mooing until Daniel ends up chasing them and trying to rope them. It is actually quite entertaining. Who would have thought life could be so fun with a simple rope. Leave it to the Goodmans to figure that out.
